Our split winding transformer features split secondary windings divided into two or three independent branches, which can drastically reduce short-circuit current when one branch suffers short-circuit fault and effectively isolate two load circuits. The independent separated windings avoid mutual interference between two outgoing feeders and improve overall power supply safety for power plant auxiliary system. Optimized low-loss silicon steel core cuts no-load loss and running noise. Reinforced winding structure improves mechanical strength against short-circuit electromagnetic force. Available in oil immersed and dry type with ONAN/ONAF cooling options. Split winding transformer is a special customized power transformer specially developed for auxiliary power supply system of thermal power plants, cogeneration stations, large chemical enterprises, coal mines and heavy industrial parks. Different from ordinary double-winding distribution transformers with one primary and one integral secondary winding, its secondary side is structurally split into two or more electrically independent winding branches with equal capacity. This unique split structure becomes core design to limit system short-circuit current and improve power supply reliability, which is irreplaceable for station service power configuration of domestic and overseas thermal power and industrial self-owned power projects. All products comply strictly with IEC60076 international standard and related power industry specifications, and Jiangsu Tianhua Transformer has accumulated rich design and export experience for various split transformer projects for many years.

Our split transformer product range covers rated capacity from 500kVA up to 63MVA, with primary input voltage including 6kV,10.5kV,35kV and other customized voltage grades according to clients’ incoming power grid condition. Secondary two split branches usually adopt equal-capacity design, each branch independently output rated voltage for separate load sections. When short-circuit failure happens on any one secondary branch, the split electromagnetic constraint between two windings will greatly restrain fault short-circuit current, lowering breaking capacity requirement of outgoing switchgears and helping customers cancel expensive series current-limiting reactors, obviously reducing overall initial investment of power distribution room.

Two mainstream product structures including oil immersed split transformer and dry-type split transformer are available for selection. Oil immersed split transformer equips ONAN natural oil cooling or ONAF forced air cooling system, outstanding in large capacity, high heat dissipation efficiency and cost advantage, which dominates most thermal power plant auxiliary power projects. Dry-type split transformer owns fireproof, explosion-proof and pollution-free characteristics without insulating oil, widely used for indoor power distribution of chemical, pharmaceutical and underground mine projects with strict fire protection and environmental requirements.

With continuous global thermal power construction and industrial park expansion in Southeast Asia, Central Asia, Middle East and Africa in recent years, the market demand of split winding transformer keeps stable growth year by year. Many newly-built coal-fired power plants and large petrochemical projects choose split transformers as preferred station service power equipment. Our factory supports full non-standard customization on rated capacity, primary-secondary voltage ratio, split branch quantity, cooling mode and installation dimension according to customers’ power station layout and electrical design parameters. Before factory delivery, every finished split transformer completes full routine test, temperature rise test, short-circuit withstand test and partial discharge detection to ensure stable long-period continuous operation under complicated industrial power grid environment.
